OPERATIONS
The core of the Fluid Technology Worldwide operations takes place from our Trinidad Representative office based in Port of Spain, Trinidad, which is the southern most island in the Caribbean chain, just 11 km (6.8 mi) off the northeast coast of Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. Trinidad, the larger of the twin islands, at 1,864 sq miles (4,828 sq km), is mainly flat and rolling, with mountains in the north that reach a height of 3,085 ft (940 m) at Mount Aripo. Tobago, at just 116 sq miles (300 sq km), is heavily forested with hardwood trees.
Quick Facts about Trinidad & Tobago:
• Population of T&T: 1,346,000 (est. 2011).
• Language: English (primary).
• T&T is known for its complex physiography and geological structure.
• World-renowned producer of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and exporter of ammonia and methanol.
• Energy accounts for 40% of T&T’s GDP and 80% of its exports, with 144,900 barrels produced per day (est. 2010).
CUBA
Initiated in November 2000, Fluid Technology Worldwide has had a presence in Cuba providing Drilling Fluid Products and Services on a continuous basis. FTW is a proven and committed partner with Cuban operatives and works diligently to enhance and improve operations in all areas. Our team members are cognizant of
the local parameters, including governing laws and the availability of local personnel and domestic services in operational areas. This gives us the wherewithal to provide services that are dependable and appropriate to meet our clients’ requirements.
Our resident engineering team has more than 60 years of combined experience in both exploration and developmental aspects of drilling fluids and has worked extensively in Trinidad’s oilfields. They are well versed in all fluid related problems and solutions in Cuba having used their almost 13-year tenure in the country to hone these skills.
Additionally, we incorporate the services of International Mud Engineers and Cuban Nationals to broaden the scope of expertise available for our clients’ projects.
Some of our past Cuban Projects include:
• FTW began operating in Cuba supplying all Drilling Fluid Products and Services for Brasoil on their Felipe IX well located on Cayo Coco on the North East coast of Cuba.
• We have been associated with the Cuban National Oil Company, Cupet, on a continuous basis for this entire period providing services and products to over sixty five wells. Most of these wells have been drilled in the Varadero and Boca de Jaruco fields located on the North Coast of Cuba.
• FTW has provided services to Repsol YPF’s deep water program in 2004 offshore Cuba. Drilling in a water depth of over 5,000-feet, this was the first deep water well in Cuba meeting all of its drilling objectives successfully.
• Prior to 2005 and on a continuous basis to 2007, we have provided Drilling Fluid Services to Peberco on their three rigs for their Block #7 Development Program.
• Following this project in 2009 we were awarded the PetroVietnam Contracts for their two land projects in the Las Tunas area of Cuba.
